The Wind. (The analysis of the short story)

Adventures are fun, but can sometimes turn into spectator sports if there is no focus. Time after time the life is covered with the network of socializing and never ending routine. As psychology states it needs tree months to verify and put down very strong feelings and get accustomed to it but being in a young age the world seems a place full of adventures and discoveries that are waiting for you everywhere. And even though the experience is rather zero and it is difficult to speak out some emotions the life of the toddler is really full of sensations and new feeling every given day as it is stated in a short story “The Wind”.

The short story itself consists of 3 logical parts, which deal with various components of baby girl’s daily life. The setting of the first part is a peaceful beach where the family of the toddler is enjoying their time during a calm summer day. The first part serves as a prologue to the brave new world of the female toddler and here we observe her sitting and playing with the sand on the vast beach. As author denotes the little child was lacking words and notions but she managed to enjoy her time by putting her toes into a limitless substance (epithet and metonymy) which yielded pleasantly (personification and an epithet). Although she could not find the proper definition for that natural phenomenon she was enjoying it and the agreeable tickle (epithet) that the sand on the beach was producing. Speaking of her family background, due to her young age she couldn’t comprehend that she had a name and the name was “Joe” s her father “was usually addressing to her for some ridiculous reason” (epithet and irony).
During reading the second part we can state that the world of the toddler was an amazing place to live where she was not a bit afraid, being secure in her conviction that she was the centre of the universe (exaggeration) and the most important phenomenon in the universe (one more exaggeration). Thus author wants to highlight the importance of the little child among all of the family members as she was praised and cherished for every little movement and subconscious deed. Although she could not put her statement  into words demonstrate   that fundamental truth (epithet and irony) by any process of ratiocination (irony) she just knew that she was the world is her oyster and she was enjoying that truth incomprehensibly and completely.
The anaphoric structure of the second paragraph of the second part stands as a prove of her vast knowledge towards herself. If she wanted anything there was always some of her family members who would satisfy her desires or change her mind in case she could not be supplied with anything. That shows that even though she was a little toddler her linguistically incomprehensible requests were always taken into consideration thus it can be stated that she was being brought up in the atmosphere of absolute love and attention to her in any way. If she was happy with everything she was always the radiator of everyone’s happiness but in case of gloomy mood she saw sympathetic (epithet) concern on the faces of her family members. And everytime she would always find someone looking at her keenly, passionately interested (epithet) in everything she did. Thus we can denote that she was the child who was given all the love of the family and who was not bothered by some obstacles due to the age.
For example, even such natural obstacle as a temporal inability to walk properly was accomplished well merited attention (epithet) and admiration (gradation). During commiting that challenging act of putting one foot in front of the other (euphemism) allowed her to move magically (epithet) to fresh and strange and exciting places (all the epithets). And the desire to repeat all the sounds that giants were producing (metaphor and exaggeration) made the audience (metaphore) laughed with joy. In case she had not managed to succeed in it she would have been gravely disappointed (exaggeration and epithet)
As author admits that toddler had lived for sensations. But here the word “sensation” serves as a pun and states for two phenomena which were the most important in the little girl’s life.  Firstly, it goes in the meaning of the feeling the toddler feels and eager to get any moment of her life. Secondly, it is the attention caused by her actions and approval got from these giants she was trying to amuse. For instance, when she grasped the hairbrush as known as a black, scratchy thing, she tried to run it through her hair in the manner of (simile) the tallest and darkest giant (epithet and exaggeration). Thus she wanted not only to attract the attention of her fams but to get a new feeling into her feeling paradigm. And all these sensations plus praise from the family made her think that she “possessed the supremacy in the universe”(hyperbole)
And by third part we get acquainted with the phenomenon that frightened her most of all. It was the invisible thing (epithet) that became more hostile and more obstructive (personification). It was a wind that she used to experience a few days before but still it was an unknown phenomenon full of terror  and humiliation (exaggeration).

Thus it can be pointed out that the toddler’s life is really a good thing to live when every day brings something new and adds up more experience and knowledge for further existence. Sometimes the world seems as a non-hostile place where you are surrounded by loving family members but even such natural things as wind can disturb the tranquility all of the sudden. Also it can be denoted that getting empirical experience is quite possible without extended linguistic experience and the toddler from the short story is a vivid example. Sometimes there are no words needed to understand the essence of simple things and phenomena.
